First I would like to say we are continuing to heal after the loss of Mamie. She is always with us and we continue to have "firsts" as the year moves on. I can already feel the holidays approaching. Even Halloween will be hard. Sarah and Taylor are doing so well in the midst of this pain. They set a wonderful example daily of what a Christian couple looks like and acts like in the middle of tragedy. They have peace in knowing they will see their sweet baby again. Actually we all do. That is what keeps us going and keeps us on the healing path. Healing, not forgetting.
We have worked very hard at Sarah and Taylor's to plant a memorial garden. It ended up being their entire front yard. It is so beautiful! There are pink azaleas, gardenias, grasses, hastas, ferns, japanese maples and a camelia. It was a family effort. Silas even helped! Taylor's family just gave them a bench with "In Loving Memory of Mamie Katherine Adams - June 25, 2009" etched in the stone. It finishes off the garden so well.
Thank you to all who continue to pray for us and offer support and love as we move forward without Mamie. She is always present in our hearts and minds and we will continue to honor her.
As for Silas, he just turned 2! We went to Jump Zone on Friday morning with a few friends and then had lunch with Pibby. He got to eat on the 'you are special today' plate :-) For snack we met up at Maggie Moo's for some yummy ice cream. Silas chose the bluest ice cream I have ever seen! It stained his little mouth it was so blue! On Saturday morning we had family over for a little party and he loved it! Yesterday morning he asked me "where Silas happy burday go?" That was a lot of celebrating for a 2 year old!
He also started school last week. He is going to Mother's Day Out two days a week and seems to be really enjoying it. He even slept on the mat both days! He just marches in to his classroom and says "bye bye mama!" He could care less if I left...
We got our last 2 pool days of the summer in. We went to the pool with Kiki and Pibby yesterday evening and then again this morning. Silas had so much fun running around in the baby pool. He was a wild man! He drenched us, but we were all laughing so hard it didn't matter. It was fun.
I am hoping to upload many pictures here since it has been so long. This thing is so slow... I will finish soon!
